SKY Price Analysis: Recovery, Buybacks and 2028 Outlook

SKY is trading around $0.061, with a market capitalization of approximately $1.43 billion. CoinGecko’s latest snapshot shows the token above its recent weekly low, but still below the top of its seven-day trading range. The immediate question is whether buyers can extend the recovery. CoinGecko

Standard Chartered’s SKY Forecast: $0.325 by 2028

Standard Chartered has reportedly set a $0.325 price target for SKY by the end of 2028. According to The Defiant’s coverage of the bank’s research, analyst Geoff Kendrick expects growth in the Sky ecosystem and USDS supply to increase the value passed to token holders.

That target is more than five times the current price. It is a long-term forecast built on assumptions about stablecoin adoption and protocol performance, rather than a near-term trading target. Slower growth in yield-bearing stablecoins is a key risk to the thesis. The Defiant

How Sky’s Stablecoin Business Works

Sky Protocol, which evolved from MakerDAO, is the ecosystem behind USDS. SKY serves as its governance token, giving holders a role in decisions about the protocol. Sky.money’s token guide

Independent agents access USDS liquidity under governance-set risk limits and deploy capital across lending, credit and Treasury strategies. These activities contribute to protocol revenue, alongside other sources such as the Peg Stability Module. The Sky Savings Rate is set separately through governance and funded from aggregate protocol surplus. Sky.money’s revenue guide

For SKY holders, the central question is whether a larger stablecoin ecosystem produces sustainable surplus after funding costs, operating expenses and reserve requirements.

Buybacks Connect Protocol Revenue to SKY

Sky uses part of its protocol surplus to buy SKY on the open market. Depending on governance parameters, repurchased tokens can be burned or distributed as staking rewards. Buying tokens back therefore does not automatically mean every token purchased is permanently removed from supply. Sky.money’s token guide

The program is already established. Sky Frontier Foundation’s June 2026 update reported more than $120 million in cumulative buyback spending since February 2025. It also noted that governance had redirected much of the surplus toward reserves, showing why revenue growth and immediate token distributions can follow different paths. June financial update

SKY Price Outlook: Two Scenarios to Watch

At the time of checking, CoinGecko listed a 24-hour range of $0.05626–$0.06244 and a seven-day range of $0.05560–$0.06520. These recent extremes provide reference levels for the following scenarios; they are not independently confirmed support or resistance zones. CoinGecko

Bullish scenario: Sustained trading above approximately $0.0624 would put the weekly high near $0.0652 in focus. A breakout followed by a successful retest would offer stronger evidence of continuation than a brief move above the level.

Bearish scenario: Failure to extend the recovery could bring the $0.0563–$0.0556 area back into focus. A sustained break below the weekly low would weaken the recovery case and point to renewed downside pressure.

The long-term argument rests on stablecoin demand and sustainable protocol earnings. For the immediate price outlook, the more useful evidence will be how SKY behaves at the boundaries of its recent range.
